26th Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby at Cimarron Canyon State Park

CIMARRON – Join us Saturday, May 12th for the 26th annual Kids’ Fishing Derby at Cimarron Canyon State Park. “We are excited to host this event every year,” said Park Ranger Stephen Clark. “This event is a wonderful family celebration and a great way to get kids connected to our park.”

The derby will take place on Saturday, May 12th from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Maverick Campground (Gravel Pit Lakes). This is a free event for kids ages from 2 to 11 years old. Kids will be divided into three age groups. There will be free t-shirts to the first 100 registrations and free goody bags to all who enter. Age groups are 2-5 years old, 6-8 years old and 9-11 years old. Prizes will be given out to winners who catch the biggest fish in each age group. Regular park fees and NM Game and Fish regulations apply.
